The Greenfield Union School District (“District”) Board of Trustees (“Board”) is seeking volunteers to serve on the District’s 7-11 Committee (“Committee”). The District is currently evaluating current and potential uses, space availability, and enrollment for certain facilities. The purpose of the Committee is to advise the Board regarding alternative and potential uses, including disposition, of District school buildings, space, and property, with a focus on a portion of the District’s property located at 490 El Camino Real in Greenfield, California.
The Committee will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating all relevant data, documents, reports, and studies in order to provide the Board with the best possible judgment regarding every situation involving District school buildings, space, and property. The Committee shall do all of the following: (a) Review the projected school enrollment and other data to determine the amount of surplus space and real property; (b) Establish a priority list of uses of surplus space and real property that will be acceptable to the community; (c) Cause to have circulated throughout the attendance area a priority list of surplus spaces and real property and provide for hearings of community input to the committee on acceptable uses of the spaces and real property, including the sale or lease of surplus real property for child care development; (d) Make a final determination of limits of tolerance of use of space and real property; and (e) Forward to the District’s Board of Trustees a report recommending uses of surplus space and real property.
Appointment, membership, and duties of the Committee will follow the parameters of Education Code section 17387 et seq., although the duties, roles, and responsibilities of Committee members may exceed those set forth in the Education Code. Committee members will be appointed to represent a cross-section of the local community in regards to socio-economic composition, ethnic group, profession, and expertise in land use planning, among others. Committee members will be required to attend Committee meetings, typically in the evenings, and will be composed of not less than seven and no more than eleven members, hence the “7-11 Committee” name. The Board may, in its discretion, also identify alternate members to appoint the Committee in the event of a vacancy.
To be considered for membership, applicants must live within the District’s boundaries.
